Fernanda Calati

Fernanda Calati was born in Magenta (MI) in 1960.

She graduated in Philosophy and started her drama studies at the Arsenale in Milan  with Marina Spreafico and Kuniaki Ida. She studied singing with Gabriella Ravazzi, composition with maestro Renato Dionisi and attended workshops with Rena Mirecka, Rodolfo Celletti, Sergiu Celibidache and Emma Kirby.

Through her life she alternates the profession of singer and actress.

She performed the role of Susanna in  “The Marriage of Figaro”, by Mozart (director M.Faldi), “Lessico amoroso” by
J.Renard (directed by C.Orlandini), “Tradimenti “by Pinter (directed by M.  Salvalalio), “Much Ado about Nothing” by W. Shakespeare (directed by V. Cavalli and C. Intrepido), “The Merry Wives of Windsor “by W. Shakespeare (directed by V. Cavalli and C. Intrepido).
She performed in contemporary and folk chamber music concerts, in Italy and abroad. She  is the author of Opera Libretti (“Sara forse Maria…”, La sposa sull’acqua”,  “Ballata di Natale”).

Her debut as a director was in December 2000 at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena, with the musical “Una storia”, with A. Alexovits music.
In December 2004, in occasion of the reopening of La Scala di Milano, she directs “Arlecchinata” by A. Salieri,  “La Dirindina” by D. Scarlatti, “La serva padrona  “ and “Livietta e  Tracollo” by G. Pergolesi. In May 2007, she puts on “The Threepenny Opera” by B. Brecht at the Teatro Apollonio in Varese.

At the present time she teaches acting and singing at the Quellidigrock School in Milan and holds workshops all over Italy about the voice and the energy of the sound.
